Saranac on the Nile is located on the west bank of the River Nile, approximately 22 km downstream from Jinja, after the Bujagali Dam and between 'the Haven' and 'Wildwaters Lodge'. See map and directions below, or download a PDF here.
Directions via Kayunga
** This is our preferred route from Kampala - less traffic, nice scenery, and generally faster than coming via Jinja Road.
Leave Kampala via Gayaza Road
To get to Gayaza Road from Kampala, travel to Ntinda and turn left after the Ndere Troup at the main junction. You will then reach the Northern Bypass roundabout.
Take the 2nd roundabout exit towards Kisasi / Gayaza
Follow the road until you reach Gayaza Road T-junction, then turn right onto Gayaza Road (you will shortly pass Moonberg Breweries)
Travel along Gayaza road, passing Gayaza, Kalagi, Nagalama, and Nakifuma, until you get to a junction just before Kayunga town.
Turn right at this junction towards Jinja
Travel for approximately 25 kms on this road, passing Nazigo and Kangulamira. Go about 6 km past Kangulamira until you see a small white signpost on your left for for Saranac on the Nile, just after a valley with rice on the right hand side. NOTE: DO NOT turn at Kangulamira, as you will have to travel for a long time on dirt roads.
Turn left at the signpost, head towards the river, and follow the signposts until you reach the gate of the property. If you miss the first signpost and reach the village of Bukeka on the tarmac road, you have gone too far.
See map below showing the route for the last couple of miles.
Directions via Jinja Town and Jinja Road
Just before reaching the Owen Falls dam across the River Nile, turn left at Nile Breweries (Njeru); this is the road going to Kayunga
Travel for approximately 22 kms on this road (passing Nile Horseback Safaris, the new Bujagali Dam and The Haven) until you see a small white signpost on your right for Saranac on the Nile.
Turn right at the signpost and follow the signposts until you reach the gate of the property.
See map below showing the route for the last couple of miles.
